The lawn edger’s give homeowners an economical way to wedge small trenches along sidewalks and driveways or trim close to trees, flower beds, lampposts, etc. Many people confuse and edger over a trimmer, in fact an edger is a different tool than a trimmer. Many of the modern units do feature interchangeable trimming and edging attachments. A trimmer works on cutting ability that depends on a fast rotating string positioned at the end of a shaft, whereas edger’s usually use a rigid rotating blade to ensure a straight, uniform cut. While a trimmer can be used instead of an edger, the edges tend to look rather disheveled, whereas a dedicated edging blade is designed specifically to achieve a beautiful, and proper appearance.
There is no such difference between operating an edger to operating a trimmer. Usually, you need to position the edger upright and perpendicular to the ground and, while the engine is running, you have to pull the throttle trigger to activate blade rotation. After this is done ensure that the edger blades have reached maximum speed before lowering the cutting head into the ground. Typically this process may take a second or two but is required to ensure that you begin with a clean, smooth cut. After the blades reach full speed, properly ease the cutting head downward. The lawn edger’s are quite powerful to help you with difficult tasks in your lawns. The lawn edger’s are also available in various types and models to suit different application needs.
